Crouch End's Gems: Home of our next market
Hello! It’s Shoshy from ShoshyCadoodle.com here.
We are hosting our next big designer/maker market in the charming, Crouch End on 14th May, 11am-4pm in Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre.
Crouch End is a place with a homely village feel, yet it’s in North London and has an incredible lineup of bars, restaurants and shops to explore.
I’ve highlighted a few of my favourite things about the area, to make your visit to our market an extra special day.
The Urban Flower Company
47 Park Road, Crouch End N8 8TE
Matt Richardson has a passion for arranging wild, beautiful blooms. He used to help out at a florist in a Saturday job when he was 15 years old. Now he is the man behind one of my favourite flower shops in London, The Urban Flower Company.
The shop is definitely worth paying a visit to, as it’s not your average, run of the mill florist. Instead, it’s jam-packed full of spectacular blossoms and is a true feast for your eyes! If you fancy making your own pick’n mix style bouquet, there’ll always be someone on hand to help, or you can opt for something already beautifully and creatively put together.I always have a hard time choosing what to go for, but I’m often drawn to the quirky looking, icelandic poppies, with their “hairy” heads and wavy stems! We love that Matt pushes the boundaries by challenging gender stereotypes and showing that flowers really are for everyone.
The Picture House
165 Tottenham Lane, Crouch End N8 9BY
This new art house cinema opened in Crouch End in 2015 and has been a huge hit with the locals. It boasts super comfy plush seats; delicious brunches, lunches, cakes, desserts and drinks; a very large and convenient cycle rack; the big blockbuster hits and some lesser known gems.
Another brilliant thing The Picture House does for the community is put on carefully thought out screenings especially catering for parents and babies, ones that are dementia-friendly, others that are autism-friendly and even some free screenings for students. Amazing.
Cassius & Coco
31 Park Road, London N8 8TE
This is my go-to shop to treat someone to something beautiful for their home or a lovely little notebook. I asked Annabel from Cassius & Coco, what their vision is really all about.
She told me, “The ethos of Cassius and Coco is to create a designers paradise where we support artists, designers and brands that are taking creative risks to manufacture one-of-a-kind objects, our focus is always on design excellence with an emphasis on craftsmanship and sustainability.” Sounds wonderful to me!
Alexandra Palace Way, London
Alexandra Palace, fondly known as Ally Pally by some, is an 140-something year old Palace set on stunning parkland with the most gorgeous views across London. Perfect for a picnic, people-watching and dog-spotting, a skate on the ice rink (open year-round) or just a good old meander to soak in the views.
To get to Ally Pally from Crouch End, hop on the W3 bus, at Palace Road (Stop Q) and jump out at Alexandra Palace Palm Court (Stop B). You’ll be there in about 10 minutes.
Crouch End has more than proved itself as a destination for Londoners craving something a bit more special.
We hope you’ll join us at the Spring market on Saturday, 14th May from 11am -4pm at:
Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre, The Broadway, Crouch End London N8 9JJ
