TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF:
I am from a village near Bath originally, I have lived in London for 8 years now. I am now a full time jeweller. Making all my work by hand in London. I occasionally do set and prop making as well. I love to be outdoors, my jewellery is inspired by various weather forces. So what better way to get inspired than emerging yourself in them! Other hobbies and interests I have are making, designing, cooking, wellbeing and event organising.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED ON ETSY?
I set up my etsy shop as soon as I had decided to take the plunge and make my jewellery and art my full time job. What a great platform to start with! I find it easy to use, easy to create a professional looking site, and the site itself is full of help and advice. I really love the community and the helpful forums. There is nothing else like this. Finding support by talking to people experiencing a similar journey is so beneficial and helpful.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR DESIGN/MAKING PROCESS:
I make everything by hand using traditional metal jewellery making skills, I sometimes freestyle and find new techniques by a trial and error process. I always start with gathering inspiration in the form of images, videos and other materials I have collected and researched. From this, I sometimes I try making items straight away ending in a finished piece. Or sometimes I take longer and make many drafts of an idea until the final piece has been reached.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT RUNNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS?
I have freedom. I love the way I can dictate my time, start early, finish early or work all night or have a 3 day weekend. You can't beat that! I love what I do and feel so lucky to have taken the leap to do it. I get to make and create my own ideas everyday. I am not stuck at a desk, I am free to move, create and mix up my day. It keeps me on my toes and refreshed.
WHEN AND WHY DID YOU JOIN THE TEAM?
I joined the team In 2017, I had been in business for one year and started to do more and more markets around London. I found out about the London Local Team and couldn't wait to be involved. Firstly, I wanted to meet like minded people who do like minded things, I always find this very refreshing. Secondly, how nice to have support and information about other markets around London. And last, but not least, you guys are ace at setting up markets, I want to get onboard!
