Etsy x Tate Britain: Queer and Now
You Belong Here
In association with Pride in London, Etsy UK hosted the You Belong Here Etsy pop-up marketplace at Tate Britain’s Queer and Now festival on the 24th of June, 2017. The event featured a variety of 16 UK-based Etsy sellers from glittery bum-bag makers to tongue-in-cheek illustrators.
It was the perfect opportunity for many to see the Queer British Art 1861-1967 exhibition while also enjoying the other events of the festival. Throughout the day, there were talks, tours, performances, music and dancing from a host of LGBTQ+ artists. The day had an energetic, yet totally chill vibe from start to finish, climaxing with an incredible dance party in the cafe, right beside the pop-up market.
A match made in heaven
Etsy is such a supportive company. The organisation is constantly seeking out ways to help local makers and designers flourish; do what they love and share their talents with their local communities. So in that sense, it was so fitting that Etsy teamed up with both Pride in London and the Tate for this event. After all, Pride in London is all about making people feel loved, supported and welcome, whoever they are. And of course, the Tate is one of London's most iconic art galleries, dedicated to showcasing some of the world's greatest artists and art work.
Luke Wolagiewicz was on hand throughout the day, to capture the essence of the day, with his reportage-style photography.
